A place to meet

Alton Quaker Meeting House has a quiet and peaceful atmosphere and is a good venue for meetings and local community groups or private functions (but please note that smoking, alcohol and gambling are not permitted on these premises). It has three rooms and a basic kitchen for preparing light refreshments. Outside there is a pleasant garden and burial ground surrounded by trees and also a small rear courtyard with table and chairs. Rooms are available at very reasonable rates per 3 hour session (hourly rates may be negotiated):

  • The main meeting room is about 20ft x 30ft, seating up to 50 people. Cost £21 per session.
  • The smaller room is about 12ft x 20ft, seating up to 15 people. Cost £13.50 per session.
  • Our 'Reading Room', about 10ft x 8ft, seats up to five people and is also suitable for interviews and consultations at a cost of £7 per session.
  • The small kitchen is easily accessed from either of the larger rooms, and is suitable for preparing drinks and light refreshments. Use of the kitchen is included in the charge for rooms.
  • There are power points and movable seats in all rooms, and either curtains or blinds. The large room has an upright piano.
  • Some on-street parking is usually possible next to the Meeting House, and two public car parks are close by.

All the rooms (except possibly the kitchen) and a toilet should be accessible to people with disabilities, including wheelchair users. Please discuss your particular needs with our warden.

To see our Meeting House and discuss your requirements, please contact our warden, Mavis Sirha, on 01420 83302.

There is a no smoking policy throughout the building, and gambling or the use of alcohol is not permitted on the premises.
