Other things Quakers do

Quakers do all sorts of things ...

Many of us find that our beliefs gradually change and that we get involved in all sorts of social issues, movements and other activities to try to make the world a better place, even if we can only do a little bit.

We have good times too.  We arrange discussion groups to get us thinking, parties - well, why not? - walks, garden open days, outings, talks on interesting subjects.  Our children and young people do lots of different things, from art and craft activities to getting involved with other young Quakers from the region and getting out and about.  And we do have a good time at our Christmas party!

We often meet with other Quakers in the area, and annually there is a ‘Yearly Meeting’ when many hundreds of Quakers get together.

But most importantly, we care for each other, and are serious about our spiritual journeys. We try to listen carefully, speak gently and to ‘live in the light’.

(Our 'Tuesday Lunches' have now stopped. These ran for well over 40 years at the Meeting House, at which we provided a simple lunch to raise money - over £3000 each year - for a range of charities. Thank you to everyone who supported the lunches. We are currently exploring the possibility of setting up a monthly coffee morning. Watch this space!)
